ANDE

Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE)​

Ashesi has been a member of the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) since 2019. The Aspen Institute has earned a reputation for gathering diverse, nonpartisan thought leaders, creatives, scholars and members of the public to address some of the world's most complex problems designed to provoke and improve actions taken in the real world.

GBSN

Global Business Schools Network (GBSN)​

Ashesi joined Global Business Schools Network (GBSN) in 2019 to develop self and other institutions of emerging economies “to have the management and entrepreneurship talent [needed] to generate prosperity”. Read more about Ashesi’s engagement with GBSN here.

  • Ashesi and GBSN wrote and applied for an IDRC (International Development Research Centre) funding to establish a West African hub for tertiary knowledge and innovation exchange.​
  • Some Ashesi faculty gained skills in measuring the impact of Business Schools; and African management and entrepreneurship education, through conferences
  • Ashesi’s Provost served on the GBSN steering committee and co-designed the GBSN 2020 annual conference

OSUN

Open Society Universities Network (OSUN)

In January 2020, Ashesi was invited to join the Open Society Universities Network (OSUN) in global partnership with 17 other colleges and universities to amplify their common mission to promote civic engagement and continue to expand access to higher education for underserved communities.   • Bard College Institute for Writing & Thinking facilitated the 2020 Ashesi annual faculty development workshop on Writing and Thinking, An Introduction to Writing to Learn in the STEM Disciplines

U7+

U7+ Alliance​

Ashesi became a member of the U7+ Alliance in 2019. It is an international alliance of leading universities from the Group of Seven (G7) countries and beyond. University presidents of 47 institutions from 18 countries adopted via declaration six principles to tackle five major global challenges, committing to take concrete action related to themes of the G7 summit.

  • Principle 2. We recognize that our universities have a distinctive responsibility to train and nurture responsible and active citizens who will contribute to society, from the local to the global level.​Principle 2.   • Principle 3 We recognize that our universities have a major role to play in addressing the environmental issues and challenges to sustainability such as climate change, biodiversity and energy transition. This should include leading by example on our own campuses.
  • Principle 4. We recognize that universities have a distinctive and major responsibility in widening access to education and promoting inclusion and opportunity. We will also foster respectful and evidence-based public debate, in order to combat polarization in our society.
  • Principle 5. To engage with stakeholders and solve complex issues of global relevance we recognize that universities must promote interdisciplinary research and learning, in particular bridging in our research and teaching between social sciences, humanities, the life sciences and STEM disciplines.
